An excellent phone for texting with its full-size QWERTY keyboard that slides out from underneath the 3.2″ touch screen. The Extravert 2 recognizes voice commands and is T4/M4 hearing aid compatible.
The LG Xpression C395 is a slide phone that comes with a 3″ touch screen on the outside. The phone slides open to the left, revealing a full-scale QWERTY keyboard, ideal for those who dislike typing on tiny touch screen keys.
This makes the C395 an ideal phone for texting, but the device also includes some more advanced features such as a web browser, an MP3 player, GPS, a calendar, a notepad, an alarm clock, an email client, and some simple preinstalled games. More games are available for download if you want them.
A 2MP camera is also included. Its picture quality isn’t great, but good enough for an occasional snapshot. The touch sensitive display is large but a bit grainy, and compared to other more expensive phones, the C395 feels a bit slow to respond to touch screen input. Call quality is excellent though.
Being an unlocked phone, the LG Xpression can be operated with SIM cards from any GSM carrier, whether in the U.S. or internationally. This is excellent if you plan to travel to places like South America or Europe, where GSM is the norm for mobile phone networks and CDMA is hardly supported at all.
In the U.S., GSM carriers include AT&T and T-Mobile. As a SIM phone, the C395 won’t work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular.
